Most of us can relate to the struggles of the teenage years, to find a place of belonging and acceptance with our peers. Last year, we saw a teenage girl, Brooke, who had struggled even more than most with finding acceptance among her peers. Brooke loved music but found it very hard to be in band at her school with her skin condition involving most of her body. She would never wear anything but long sleeve shirts and pants because she had so many rashes, sores and scars on her body. Brooke itched incessantly and struggled with visible scratches and disfiguration as well as issues with odor. For years, Brooke had been to numerous doctors, who had tried many treatments but never cleared her and said there wasn't anything they could do for her.
When Brooke came to us, we started using Epionce products in conjunction with prescription products and our four-fold treatment strategy. Three months later she was sitting in our office smiling. Not only was she not consumed by scratching, her entire demeanor had changed. Her skin had cleared with just a few remaining purple marks from the scars. She was marching in a band competition and was very excited to feel so good. She is doing so much better in school because she can concentrate. She even spoke about being invited to sit with a couple girls at their lunch table. We changed her life, and we celebrate with patients like Brooke. They are the reason we do what we do.
