Carl R Thornfeldt, MD
Dr. Carl R. Thornfeldt is a practicing dermatologist with 30 years of skin research experience, 15 U.S. patents granted and over 50 scientific journal publications in the area of treatment of skin diseases and conditions, including chapters in six dermatological textbooks and authored the book Ideal Skin Health published in 2010. Along with these accomplishments, he has also spent nearly two decades focusing on researching the skin barrier, cutaneous inflammatory conditions, delivering ingredients and herbal medicines.
Dr. Thornfeldt's drive towards expertise in the dermatology field stems from his struggle with skin disease as a child. He understands the personal struggle our patients go through. He finds intense satisfaction in helping all of his clients regardless of what type of condition ails them.
Dr. Thornfeldt received his M.D. from the Oregon Health Sciences University. Soon after, he spent three years in family practice for the U.S. Navy then completed his dermatology residency at University Hospital, San Diego, California. While running his private practice and conducting research, Dr. Thornfeldt has co-founded and held the position of CEO at several privately and publicly held biopharmaceutical technology companies.
Dr. Thornfeldt has presented at numerous international, national and regional scientific meetings.
In 2003 and 2005, Dr. Thornfeldt was selected as one of the top 50 doctors in the U.S. by The Sinatra Health Report. He is the only dermatologist on the list.
He enjoys mountain climbing, swimming, skiing and traveling, especially with his wife of almost 40 years. He has 2 adult children.
Cynthia McKim, DMD FAACD
Dr. Cynthia McKim received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1989 and practiced overseas for six years, providing care for multiple expatriate nationalities. She relocated to Boise in 1996. Dr. McKim founded the Boise Center for Cosmetic Dentistry where she practiced cosmetic and general dentistry and incorporated anti-aging injectables for her patients. She continually participates in prestigious educational programs to stay on top of the latest technologies as well as the newest techniques of aesthetic cosmetic procedures.
With Dr. McKim’s work and techniques featured in numerous professional journals and magazines, her expertise places her as one of the few dentists worldwide holding the honor of an Accredited Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Accredited Fellow is the highest credential earned in the AACD. This designation demonstrates a continued ability and sustained commitment to deliver excellence.
Dr. McKim has published articles in peer-reviewed journals including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. Her work has been featured as the cover photo of the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, and she has been highlighted in the Idaho Business IQ and the Eagle Magazine.
Dr. McKim is known for providing her patients with a personalized and thoughtful approach. A proponent of aging gracefully, she works with each client to compose a completely customized treatment plan that not only resolves their concerns, and focuses on everything our clients need to achieve a beautiful, healthy and youthful life. When she is not treating patients or continuing her education, she enjoys training and showing her dressage horses.
Amanda Turner, PA-C
Amanda Turner, PA-C is originally from North Central Idaho where she grew up on her family's farm and ranch in Kamiah. She attended the University of Idaho, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with an emphasis in Chemistry in 2013. In May 2017, she graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
During her time in school at Virginia, she had a clinical rotation in dermatology, and developed a passion for treating patients with various skin conditions and cosmetic concerns. She sought to pursue this specialty full time in her home state of Idaho, leading her to CT Derm. Ms. Turner’s focus is in medical dermatology which includes conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and skin cancer screening/excisions. She is committed to working together with patients to reach a desired goal for their dermatologic conditions.
Ms. Turner is certified by the NCCPA and the Idaho Board of Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Idaho Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Outside of her position at CT Derm, Ms. Turner enjoys swimming, camping, kayaking, and spending time with her family, friends, and her two Miniature Australian Shepherds.
